Building trust through transparency
Sahaad Empowerment Foundation believes that trust should be earned through responsible governance, honest communication and accountability.
Our governance framework supports responsible decision-making, safeguarding, financial accountability, inclusion and the protection of the people and communities we serve.
We are committed to managing our resources responsibly, being open about how we work and continuously improving the way we deliver our mission.
Our commitment
In delivering our mission, we are committed to:
- using charitable funds and grant funding responsibly and for their intended purposes
- maintaining appropriate financial and programme records
- safeguarding children and adults at risk who come into contact with our work
- protecting the dignity, privacy and personal information of the people we support
- promoting equality, disability inclusion and non-discrimination
- using photographs, videos and personal stories responsibly and with appropriate consent
- providing appropriate routes for complaints and safeguarding concerns
- identifying and managing conflicts of interest
- being honest about what our programmes have and have not achieved
- monitoring our work and using evidence to improve future programmes
Governance
Sahaad Empowerment Foundation is a nonprofit organisation registered in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
The Foundation is led by the Chairman, who coordinates day-to-day activities, with governance and oversight support from the Trustee and administrative support from the Secretary. Our work is further supported by volunteers and other team members who contribute to outreach, awareness and programme activities.
Clear responsibilities are in place for safeguarding, financial oversight, complaints, conflicts of interest and responsible programme delivery.
Where a matter presents a conflict of interest, including a complaint or safeguarding concern involving a member of leadership, our procedures provide for alternative oversight so that the individual concerned does not control the response.
Reporting our progress
We are committed to measuring and reporting our work responsibly. Programme records may include activities delivered, people reached, resources provided, participant feedback and follow-up information where appropriate.
We distinguish between direct programme participation, wider community engagement and public awareness reach so that our impact is not overstated.
As our programmes develop, we will share appropriate updates on our activities, partnerships, outcomes and lessons learned. We believe meaningful impact should be supported by evidence, not exaggerated claims.
Key Policies
The following public policies explain the standards that guide our work and help our community, partners and funders understand how Sahaad approaches safeguarding, accountability, inclusion and responsible programme delivery.
